1 + 1 = End of the line?! How change communication turns the culture clash in M&A processes into a new team spirit
What happens to cultures in M&A processes and how can an emotional story help people from different teams with different ideas pull together instead of causing a culture clash? In the webinar hosted by the Timmermann Group and the Bundesverband Merger & Acquisitions e.V. on May 18, 2021, participants were given a good insight into the topic. The webinar was held by Thilo Mutter, Creative Director Timmermann Change Communication, who has been dealing with these topics for over 27 years and shared his expertise and experience with the audience. The presentation was interactive and allowed the audience to contribute their own opinions. Thilo Mutter responded directly to this and integrated the comments competently into his vivid explanations. In addition to mentioning various possible conflicts during the introduction of M&A processes and good ideas for resolving or avoiding them, he naturally focused on the role of communication.
“What is necessary must somehow also get into the heart” – this is how Mutter described his need and conviction that emotional change must also be taken into account in order to successfully implement a change process. Using four practical examples, each based on different requirements and objectives, he illustrated for the participants the variety of ways in which communication can turn change into something positive and encourage teams to value what they have in common. It was also important for him to emphasize that success does not always require a great campaign idea – sometimes a single sentence is enough.
The subsequent opportunity for the audience to ask questions was also gladly accepted, resulting in an exciting discussion in which Thilo Mutter provided further insights into his wide-ranging areas of experience.
