Federal Association of Mergers & Acquisitions becomes a non-profit organization

With retroactive effect from January 1, 2022, the association register court has approved the merger of the former Bundesverband Mergers & Acquisitions e.V., based in Frankfurt, with the Bundesverband Mergers & Acquisitions gem. e.V. (BM&A), based in Munich. The association, with its more than 300 member companies, will now continue to operate as a non-profit organization, giving it scope for realignment.

In particular, the aim is to strengthen Germany’s position in relation to the economic heavyweights USA and China and to support entrepreneurs with regard to their external and organic transformation. This is also and especially against the backdrop of current transformations and role changes, such as the dissolution of boundaries between companies and the development of digital ecosystems, in order to make the most of all the opportunities offered by the international market.

The BM&A does not see itself as a purely nationally operating organization, but rather in an international context, even in the face of the particular challenges arising from disruptions and distortions in international supply chains. It relies on partnerships and cooperation with the US M&A Association (BMA&A), the Chinese M&A Association (CMA) and various trade associations in Europe.

Prof. Dr. Kai Lucks, Chairman of the BM&A Executive Board, comments: “It is particularly important to us that we continue to develop Germany’s industrial structures dynamically and with foresight in line with international demand. We act as a bridge to international companies and partners.”

The overriding obligation is a social one, which is expressed in the non-profit status of BM&A gem. e.V., which is open to all natural persons and legal entities.
