Last week, the German M&A Association (BM&A) together with DIfU and M&A REVIEW organized the Mittelstandstag M&A 2022. It was a successful event: panel discussions, including with BM&A members Jan Pörschmann from Proventis Partners, Wilhelm Mickerts and Hanno Hepke from Grant Thornton and Hans-Josef Vogel from Advant Beiten, a top-class dinner speech by negotiation expert Matthias Schranner, good food, networking and a great location at the Zeche Zollverein.
But that’s not all: the Mittelstandstag M&A 2022 had set itself the goal of examining the extent to which M&A is an effective instrument for managing succession in SMEs or driving forward corporate development. To this end, M&A REVIEW sought professional support and asked the 12,000 owner-managed companies in the German SME sector in advance: Florian Bauer from Lancaster University and Martin Friesl from the University of Bamberg conducted a large SME study to find out how entrepreneurs use M&A and what challenges SMEs face when it comes to mergers and transactions.
The results of the study were presented at the Mittelstandstag – and brought the BM&A and the DIfU the attention of the Handelsblatt. There you can read the most important results of the SME study and statements by the BM&A’s office manager, Stefan Gerhard Schneider, on the survey and outcome.
