The Digitalization – “Emerging Technologies” working group meeting took place in Munich on 14 February 2019. 31 managers and decision-makers from corporations, auditing firms, lawyers and consultants met at the premises of INVENSITY GmbH to discuss the current trends “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” and “Cyber-Physical Systems” and to address the following issues:
- What is behind these two technologies?
- What are the potentials and challenges behind this?
- How will these technologies change our society?
- What influence do these two technologies have on the M&A process and target valuation?
After the introduction, the lecture by Dr. Blaseio formed the start of the lecture series with the topic “Decision space and can computers implement creative solutions?”. Dr. Braun from the AI start-up Augustus presented the concepts of neural networks and the various areas of application. Finally, Mr. Ebert from Aifinity presented the possibility of generating new customers through socializer assistants in social networks.
At the end of the AI block, the association expressed its wish to create a friendlier environment for AI in Germany in order to prevent the gap between Germany and the leading nations China and the USA from widening even further.
Finally, Mr. Marquart from INVENSITY presented practical examples from the technical and operational due diligence of cyber-physical systems.
These systems consist of electronic, mechanical and software elements that are networked with each other and operate at different levels. Application examples can be found in the automotive industry, smart home and in the areas of IoT and Industry 4.0.
